Feelin' A Bit Soaked?

We all have those days where we feel like we've been through the washing machine and been hung out to dry. This lil guy never even saw it coming! He was even a little scared at first, because he didn't know how it was all going to end...but oh what an ending! After spending time under water, filled with doubts and fears, Stephano finally made it to the "other side" of life. After the water, came the hugs and comfort. After the hugs and comfort, came the new collar and leash. After the new collar and leash, came the greatest moment of all...Stefano finally had a family to call his own, a home forever, and a safe place to rest his weary head.

As I was evacuating North, to run away from the water pounding in from Hurricane Milton, I was reminded that sometimes we need a good cleansing. Not because we are dirty, but more so because we have picked up much debris along the way. Sometimes the water runs smoothly over us, cleansing us so we may begin anew. Sometimes, the water scares us, and even for some, the water takes our homes and possessions away. We have all been in the water, and for so many at times, it feels like we are drowning. For those who lost everything, we grieve with them. For those who only needed a chainsaw to climb back into what was left of their home, we toil with them. For those who watched helplessly as the rain and winds tore through areas where friends and family lived, we feared the worst with them. A good cleansing...I guess it all depends on who you ask.

Most are weary from stress and anxiety. Most are weary from working sun up to evening to clear a path back home. Most are weary from lack of sleep and very little rest from the storms. But most are safe. Safe on the other side of devastation and destruction. Safe from the wind and rain. Safe with friends and family. Safe with their beloved pets by their side. Safe with whatever belongings they could salvage from the wreckage. Safe.

When the storms are coming, we prepare. When the storms arrive, we fear. When the storms pass, we come together and show tremendous love and strength...together.
